In is 35 years with Beech Acres Parenting Center, Jim has led the agency through several transformations, each with the effect of deepening and expanding its mission in the face of a rapidly changing environment. Read his complete bio here.

Christy Berning, Freelance Writer and Mother of Three

Ever since giving birth to her first son nearly 17 years ago, Christy Berning has had an appetite for all things parenting. In 2007, she befriended Beech Acres Parenting Center after attending our For the Love of Kids conference, and has since served in a variety of volunteer capacities for Beech Acres. An avid reader and researcher of social, family and relationship dynamics, Christy currently works as a freelance writer and strategist. Her professional background includes a degree from Bowling Green State University (the one in Ohio!), a brief stint as a Disney cast member, and various marketing roles within the fields of publishing, women’s health, children’s photography, and education.

Sharon James, M.A., Manager of Parent Education

Sharon is passionate about communication and managing conflict for families. She joined Beech Acres Parenting Center in 2000 as Divorce and Family Mediator and has led the development of multiple programs and curricula. Sharon earned a Master’s degree in counseling from the University of San Francisco and currently teaches psychology at Cincinnati State. In San Francisco, she was the director of Domestic Violence Diversion, a probation officer and counselor for high-risk youth, and a parent coach.
