Welcoming a loved one's child into your home can have many benefits. For the both of you.

  • Being able to be cared for by a relative reduces traumatic experiences for your grandchild, niece, nephew, or other relative or loved one.

  • You are more likely to understand your relative’s circumstances and support them long-term through difficult times, which has a positive impact on their mental and physical well-being.

  • Your relative may experience improved mental health outcomes by preserving the child’s natural setting within their family of origin.

  • The Triple P – Positive Parenting Program® is a parenting a family support system designed to prevent – as well as treat – behavioral and emotional problems in children and teenagers. It aims to prevent problems in the family, school and community before they arise and to create family environments that encourage children to realize their potential.

  • If you are caring for a child in the custody of Children’s Services you may be eligible to become a licensed foster parent through the Kinship Support Program (KSP).  This program includes a per diem payment while you obtain your foster care license and foster care per diem payments once you become a licensed foster parent. Contact us to learn more.
