In-Person Ongoing Training: The Holocaust & Humanity Center
Join us for a private tour of the Holocaust and Humanity Center and a discussion with the Center staff. ***additional info soon***
This event is open to both foster parents as well as youth age 12 and up. Please sign up accordingly. You may register children under your name, please be sure to select the correct ticket type.
After your registration is processed and accepted, you will receive an email with additional meeting instructions. Please register for each attendee. If for some reason you are unable to attend after registering, please notify us immediately at fctraining@beechacres.org so that we can offer that spot to the next attendee.

Ongoing Training: Communicable Diseases
Communicable Diseases
This is an ongoing training class for already licensed foster parents.
Because children are exposed to a variety of environments, it is imperative that caregivers have the ability to identify common concerns quickly in order to stop the spread of disease processes and help keep their families healthy. In addition to signs and symptoms, you will review best practices in preventing the further spread of illness.
**Training is currently occurring in a virtual environment.**

The Resource Readiness workshop will provide 7 hours of training and will cover the Resource Readiness topics required on the ITNA and Training Plan.

This training promotes safety for all foster children and helps foster caregivers to remain in compliance
with state, local, and agency requirements. Updates to state rules and agency policies will be
presented. Normalcy practices in accordance with the reasonable and prudent parent standard will be
reviewed.
This training is required once per license period for every BAPC foster family.
This class is for Ongoing Training and is only open to licensed foster parents with Beech Acres.

Preservice Module 1: Orientation & the Effects of Caregiving
Module 1 provides an overview of the child welfare system and examines the differences between foster care, adoption, and kinship care. Participants receive information about the needs of waiting children as well as the process of becoming a foster or kinship caregiver or adoptive parent. We will also examine the impact of foster care, kinship care, and adoption on individual members of the caregiving family as well as the impact on their relationships with one another. Participants are introduced to effective coping strategies to prevent against burnout and secondary traumatic stress.

Preservice Module 2: Child & Adolescent Development
Module 2 introduces the core concepts of early childhood development. Participants receive an overview of brain development and gain an awareness of the importance of attachment, self-regulation, and initiative to child development. Factors that enhance development are also addressed. We will also review the developmental changes that happen during adolescence and the foster parent’s role in preparing the youth for independent living.
