Communicable Diseases
This is an ongoing training class for already licensed foster parents.
Because children are exposed to a variety of environments, it is imperative that caregivers have the ability to identify common concerns quickly in order to stop the spread of disease processes and help keep their families healthy. In addition to signs and symptoms, you will review best practices in preventing the further spread of illness.
**Training is currently occurring in a virtual environment.**

October Review for Alternative Caregivers and Respite Providers
This one hour class provides an overview of foster care rules and polices for individuals becoming approved as alternative caregivers or respite providers to care for foster children.
** Please note that this class is not eligible for ongoing training credit and is only approved for Alternative Care and Respite Providers.
**This training will occur as a virtual Live Synchronous Webinar. Video is required.

Ongoing Training: Rules & Policies
This training promotes safety for all foster children and helps foster caregivers to remain in compliance
with state, local, and agency requirements. Updates to state rules and agency policies will be
presented. Normalcy practices in accordance with the reasonable and prudent parent standard will be
reviewed.
This training is required once per license period for every BAPC foster family.
This class is for Ongoing Training and is only open to licensed foster parents with Beech Acres.

This workshop is designed for Beech Acres Foster Parents licensed after January 1, 2023.

The Resource Readiness workshop will provide 7 hours of training and will cover the Resource Readiness topics required on the ITNA and Training Plan.
Topics covered include:
- Prevention, recognition, and management of Communicable Diseases
- Health and social services available to foster children & families
- Understanding substance abuse
- Education advocacy
- Cultural & diversity issues
- Family safety
- Building attachment
- Caring for children who have been sexually abused
- Placement Transitions
- Mental health & self-care
- Legal & Ethical issues for caregivers

Ongoing Training: In-Person CPR and First Aid for Recertifcation
This class is for Ongoing Training and is only open to licensed foster parents with Beech Acres.
All Foster Parents are required to attend a CPR and First Aid Training course for Adult, Child, and Infant CPR, First Aid, and AED. This training is only open to currently licensed foster parents and class size is limited. After your registration is processed and accepted, you will receive an email with additional meeting instructions. Please register for each attendee. If for some reason you are unable to attend after registering, please notify us immediately at fctraining@beechacres.org so that we can offer that spot to the next attendee.
