At Beech Acres Parenting Center, we believe in the power of connection—especially the bonds between siblings. The Montgomery Family’s journey is a beautiful example of how love, dedication, and intentionality can help those connections stay strong.

While the Montgomerys always envisioned fostering or adopting a sibling group, their path began by fostering one child—Hayden. In November 2023, at the age of five, Hayden officially became their son through adoption. But their commitment extended beyond just one child—it included honoring the deep bond Hayden shared with his siblings.

Hayden entered care just before his second birthday, alongside his nine-year-old brother and eight-year-old sister. Their newborn sister was placed directly with a relative. From an early age, Hayden leaned heavily on his siblings for comfort and care. For nearly two years, they lived together in foster care—until Hayden’s individual needs led to a new placement.

That’s when the Montgomerys welcomed him into their home.

Because they entered mid-case, sibling visits were already established. Although visits were often emotionally complex, they quickly became a crucial lifeline for maintaining sibling bonds. Over time, each child found a loving home that best suited their individual needs—but the connections between them remained a priority.

Now adopted, Hayden is thriving—but like many children in similar situations, he continues to navigate the feelings of loss and longing for his siblings. The Montgomerys are intentional about keeping those relationships strong, supporting phone calls and visits whenever Hayden asks. They reinforce an important truth: no matter where life takes them, his siblings will always be part of his story.

Of course, keeping that connection alive comes with challenges. The siblings live in different parts of the city, each in a different home, each at a different stage in life. But thanks to the strong relationships formed early on with the other adoptive families, the Montgomerys have been able to create opportunities for connection—whether it’s one-on-one time with their brother or group outings to the park.

The Montgomerys say it best: “Their presence makes Hayden’s forever family bigger and more complete—a beautiful blend of biological ties and adoption.”

At Beech Acres, we’re proud to walk alongside families like the Montgomerys who lead with empathy, intention, and love. Their story is a powerful reminder that family isn’t just about who you live with—it’s about who you stay connected to.
